This week, the Guildford Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP) took to the streets for our high-visibility "Blitz Day." Held in conjunction with national BCRP Awareness Week, the operation was designed to disrupt criminal activity, support our local retailers, and demonstrate the power of a united business community.
The day was a resounding success, proving once again that when we work together, we make Guildford a harder target for those looking to disrupt our town.

Proactive Results: Crime Prevention in Action
Our teams, alongside Surrey Police and our dedicated partners, were active across the town centre. The "Blitz" approach allowed us to identify and intercept several incidents in real-time that might otherwise have gone undetected.
Key highlights from the operation include:
- Retail Theft Interception: One major "trolley dash" was intercepted with all goods successfully recovered. We also stopped a group attempting to shoplift in Superdrug.
- Scam Prevention: Our team successfully identified and stopped a professional scammer operating in the area.
- Youth Intervention: Working closely with Surrey Police, we safely removed a group of teenagers from the roof of TG Jones, addressing both safety and anti-social behavior concerns.
- Enforcement & Intelligence: We issued 5 warning letters and 1 formal exclusion to a prolific offender already known to the partnership.
- Digital Strength: Using our DISC system, we pushed out 2 instant alerts, effectively stopping 3 targeted individuals in their tracks before they could offend.
The Power of Intervention
While we are proud to report that £150 in goods was physically recovered and returned to shelves today, the true impact of the BCRP goes far beyond that figure.
Early intervention is about loss prevention. By disrupting professional scammers and known shoplifters before they leave the store, we are saving our members thousands of pounds in potential losses and creating a safer environment for staff and shoppers alike.
"Today's operation proves that visibility and communication are our strongest tools. By sharing intelligence instantly, we don't just react to crime—we prevent it."
